The classrooms are specifically designed for young students to aid in their development and learning. The teachers organise the rooms into different stations where educational activities take place.

 

The School Day:

Lesson timetable: Monday – Thursday 8.30 – 16.00. Friday 8.30 – 15.30

 

Cafeteria:

Lunch for 3 and 4 year-olds is at 11.45. For 5 year-olds (Kindergarten) lunch is at 12.45. Snack time is at 10.00; the snack is supplied by the school.

 

Materna 3 (3 year-olds):
Class sizes are approximately 22 students. In each class there are always 2 teachers (one mother-tongue English and the other Italian) present.  For the first 15 days of school there is a special familiarisation programme.
Music and Physical Education (in the Gymnasium) are taught by specialist teachers twice a week.  As it is the child’s first year of school, it is possible for the students to leave before 16.00, with teacher’s approval, particularly at the beginning of the school year. In the morning, students are admitted to class until 9am.

 

Materna 4 (4 year-olds):
Class sizes are approximately 22 students. In each class there are always 2 teachers (one mother-tongue English and the other Italian) present. Music and Physical Education (in the Gymnasium) are taught by specialist teachers twice a week.

 

Kindergarten (5 year-olds):
Class sizes are approximately 30 students. During lessons, the students are divided into 2 groups of 15. The large classrooms are divided by sliding doors and are structured to accommodate an English and an Italian teaching area. Music, Physical Education (in the Gymnasium), Art in English and Computer Studies in English are taught by specialist teachers twice a week.

During the year the students go on school trips to an agriturismo, to the theatre (both in English and Italian) and to children’s museums.
